The MPG44100 is a quasi-resonant (QR), critical conduction mode (CrM) or discontinuous conduction mode (DCM), multi-mode, power factor correction (PFC) regulator with an integrated GaN FET. It provides simple and high-performance active PFC using minimal external components. The MPG44100 also integrates current sensing and eliminates external sense resistors, which guarantee higher efficiency.
The MPG44100 implements two-stage adaptive output adjustment with the input line voltage for overall high efficiency. The device also features a bus-boost function for peak power capability in powered device (PD) applications without requiring an external circuit by working with the MPX2100/MPXG2100 family, which can reduce the output capacitance by 20%.
The MPG44100 applies enhanced dynamic transition technology to improve the voltage drop of load transient, and provides advantages for system reliability and cost. In addition, the MPG44100 features a very low supply current, which allows the device to achieve low standby power consumption below 20mW typically.
The MPG44100 works in CrM with a maximum frequency limit under heavy loads. The operating frequency is reduced by dead-time extension (DTE) technology under light-load conditions, which improves light-load efficiency. The device also achieves lower THD due to variable-on-time control in DCM compared to conventional constant-on-time (COT) control.
Multi-protection functionality largely enhances the safety and reliability of the system. The MPG44100 features under-voltage protection (UVP), over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current limit (OCL), over-current protection (OCP), FB open protection, VCC under-voltage lockout (UVLO), and over-temperature protection (OTP).
The MPG44100 is available in a QFN-27 (7mmx7mm) package.
