The MPQ70150FS-AEC1 is a low-noise, high switching frequency (fSW) power management integrated circuit (PMIC) optimized for powering monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) in automotive radar applications.
Features include three individual step-down DC/DC converters and one boost converter with excellent transient performance and high efficiency. The step-down DC/DC converters support configurable switching frequencies (fSW) up to 17.6MHz to enable low-dropout regulator (LDO) free, low-noise power solutions with minimal or no passive filtering. The configurable frequency spread spectrum (FSS) function can dither fSW for improved EMI performance.
The MPQ70150FS is an ISO 26262 hardware-capable device developed under MPS's advanced MPSafe™ Functional Safety Product Development process, which has been independently certified. Safety mechanisms such as built-in self-testing (BIST) provide high diagnostic coverage.
A configurable watchdog timer (WDT) is implemented with window and question & answer (Q&A) modes. Built-in voltage monitoring is featured for the input voltage (VIN) and output voltage (VOUT) rails. An additional voltage monitor is included to monitor an external rail.
Protection features include input and output under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-voltage protection (OVP), under-voltage protection (UVP), output short-circuit protection (SCP), and thermal shutdown (TSD). SPI and I2C digital interfaces, as well as a one-time programmable (OTP) memory, are integrated for easy configuration and flexibility.
The MPQ70150FS requires minimal external components, and is available in a thermally enhanced TQFN-28 (5mmx5mm) package. It is AEC-Q100 qualified.
